Great lesson! I have a penchant for down the line shots ( a leftover from my tennis days).
Nothing wrong with down-the-line shots. They just offer a little bit more complexity in court coverage 😉
Exercises to improve eye-hand coordination
One simple hand-eye coordination exercise is to just bounce the ball on a paddle. Do it forehand first, then the backhand, and then alternate forehand to backhand. Once you get really good at it, go forehand side, backhand. Plus you can do it anywhere.
Why can’t I do the coordination of bouncing the ball on the paddle? I don’t know if this is a vision thing”……..
Hi Jane it could certainly be related to vision. How long have you been practicing it?
Great explanation! Thank you!!
I’ve been taught by another instructor to go down the line—and think this is a much better approach!
Glad you got something from Dana!
Need to do a better job communicating with my partner regarding who takes the middle shot and calling the ball
I think all of us could do that!
I love your messages. Keeps me encouraged. I am 76 and play weekly with groups of seniors. We have fun but I seem to always be mad at myself for dumb returns by no hitting the ball squarely. Also, I have been using the ball drop, 45 degree angle. I works for me. I seem to be the only one. I am shy. Should I change and gradually work to go back to a “normal” serve.
