#164- Pickleball is Messy – and that is Awesome PLUS Why Players Share “Advice”

Pickleball is going to be messy, you’ll enjoy your game better if you embrace that fact.

Sometimes you are going to miss a return of serve or to hit a short return of serve and other messy shots.

Today we’re going to talk about messy pickleball and how we can use that to benefit us when we play and in our improvement.

For instance, and in general, when we look at folks who are successful, we see the result of a lot of messy steps they’ve taken along the way that ended up with them having some level of success in their field. It’s a series of steps that has gotten them there. And the key is this, those steps are messy.

In pickleball you’re going to have these moments of great shot here, great save there, it’s all part of a big picture which when you look at it piece by piece, it is a messy process. Allow the mess to be a part of your play or experience.

Embracing that helps you not get so down on yourself because pickleball improvement is a messy proposition.

Chapters:

00:00 – 04:59-  Messy Pickleball: Why Folks Give Advice and How It Helps Your Improvement

04:59 – 09:57-  Embracing the Messiness of Pickleball

09:57 – 15:10- Understanding Messiness and Insecurity in Pickleball Improvement

15:10 – 18:42- Incorrect & Incomplete Pickleball Advice: What to Know Before Heeding it

In the riff we talk about why folks give advice about pickleball and why perhaps they are so adamant about the correctness of the advice that they’re giving.

I’ll give you two examples of incorrect and then incomplete information that we hear all the time out there on the courts and why it’s important to understand where these players are coming from.

Hola. Hello. Konichiwa. After 40 years playing tennis, I am now a full-time pickleball player and professional. As a 5.0 rated Senior Pro Pickleball Player and an IPTPA-certified Master Teaching Professional, my focus is on helping players like you learn to play their best pickleball. In 2016, shortly after starting to play pickleball, my friend Tom and I jumped into the highest division at the first US Open in Naples, Florida. That morning it became clear just how much there is to learn in this seemingly simple sport – a lifetime of learning if you so choose. Since 2018, I have been on a mission to share my knowledge of pickleball so other players can enjoy the game at a higher level and attain their pickleball objectives. When not studying or playing pickleball, I like to travel with my other half, Jill.
