#129- Are You Acting Like “that” Player Out there?

Every pickleball player has come across that player who other players shrink from playing with: negative energy, eye rolls, verbally negative comments.

How are you interacting with others on the court?

If others are recoiling from playing with you, or if others are not happy to play with you, or if there’s hesitation and things like that, perhaps a little bit of self reflection will be good.

Be open to the possibility that you may have, from time to time, behaved in a manner that could be improved.

Might have been something as “simple” as a shoulder drop when your partner missed that put-away shot at 10-9. Whatever the case is, there is always room to improve.

Listen to this podcast for two things you can do that CJ and I recommend to you to be that player people look forward to playing with.

More specifically, here’s what you’ll listen to in the episode;

00:00 – What It Means to be Fun to Play With

04:51 – Balancing the Social Aspects with the Win-Loss Column

12:02- Finding those Moments of Gratitude

In the riff, I share with you a recent gratitude exercise I did to help you in your own gratitude practice.

Find those moments of gratitude during the day, it doesn’t have to be pickleball related.

When you find that gratitude, it sets the tone for the rest of your pickleball session and frankly, the rest of your day.

Your focus will move away from the inevitable errors, because errors are inevitable, that you will make during your day.

Hola. Hello. Konichiwa. After 40 years playing tennis, I am now a full-time pickleball player and professional. As a 5.0 rated Senior Pro Pickleball Player and an IPTPA-certified Master Teaching Professional, my focus is on helping players like you learn to play their best pickleball. In 2016, shortly after starting to play pickleball, my friend Tom and I jumped into the highest division at the first US Open in Naples, Florida. That morning it became clear just how much there is to learn in this seemingly simple sport – a lifetime of learning if you so choose. Since 2018, I have been on a mission to share my knowledge of pickleball so other players can enjoy the game at a higher level and attain their pickleball objectives. When not studying or playing pickleball, I like to travel with my other half, Jill.
